100 Mile Arts Network Welcomes Kate Weekes as New Director of Programming
Hiring Local Artists Reinforces Commitment to Community and Artistic Development

Wakefield, QC — The 100 Mile Arts Network is excited to announce the appointment of Kate Weekes as its new Director of Programming. A celebrated songwriter and instrumentalist based in the Gatineau Hills, Kate brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for building community through the arts. 100 Mile Arts Network believes that artists are the heartbeat of our community. Hiring practicing artists like Kate to carry out the Network’s work ensures that our programs are artist-driven and authentically connected to the needs of our creative community.

In addition to her musical pursuits, Kate has experience across visual and theatre arts and is currently enrolled in the printmaking diploma program at the Ottawa School of Art. Her multidisciplinary approach to the arts exemplifies her commitment to fostering diverse artistic expressions.

“A large part of why I moved to the Gatineau Hills region was because of the thriving arts community here. I was warmly welcomed and encouraged to move here by musical friends in the area,” said Kate Weekes. “I am excited to be part of an organization that’s fostering the arts in this region and to help develop that community.”

By appointing an artist of Kate’s caliber, 100 Mile Arts Network reinforces its dedication to supporting local talent not just in words but through meaningful action. She joins an already strong team of artists, including:

  • Sebastien Molgat, Director of Communications: photographer and video artist
  • Jennifer Bisson, Social Media and Event Coordinator: Interdisciplinary artist
  • Glen Hartle, Web and Media Coordinator: photographer and writer
  • Savanna Oliver, Videographer: filmmaker

As Kate explains, “artists play an important role in helping us to process our daily lives and broader political themes and concepts. The arts help to reflect in a creative way what we’re all going through and connect us in kind of a bigger fabric.” Kate is available for comment (kate@100milearts.net). Photo of Kate
